UPMC Waterford plays an important role in delivering accessible, specialist healthcare to the South East, reducing the need for patients to travel to Dublin or abroad for treatment. 

Michael Barrett Quantity Surveyors were engaged by RKD Architects in collaboration with Reddy Architecture to deliver full cost management services for the fit-out of an 18-bed ward on the second floor of UPMC Whitfield Hospital, Waterford. The project involved the comprehensive refurbishment and transformation of the existing space into a modern, patient-focused healthcare environment, incorporating specialist medical finishes, services integration, and high-specification clinical requirements.

 

Our role encompassed detailed cost planning, procurement, and ongoing financial control throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring strict adherence to budget while maintaining the quality and compliance standards essential in a live hospital setting. Through close coordination with the design team and contractor, we supported the efficient delivery of a safe, functional, and high-quality ward facility aligned with UPMC’s operational and patient care requirements.
