Goods Shed – Horgan’s Quay

The restoration and conservation of the historic Goods Shed at Horgan’s Quay in Cork formed a key part of the wider €160 million docklands regeneration project, which revitalised former railway lands dating back to the 1850s. Carefully preserved as an important piece of industrial heritage, the structure was extensively surveyed and documented using advanced techniques before works began, ensuring that original elements such as the limestone walls, steel roof trusses, and internal structural features could be retained and sensitively integrated into the new development. Rather than simply restoring the façade, the project incorporated significant portions of the original building into modern office architecture, maintaining its historic character while adapting it for contemporary use. The Goods Shed restoration was completed as part of the early phases of the development, with works substantially finished by around 2021 alongside the first office buildings.
